[ haha hey cool his face must be tinged red because of the alcohol. wild. ]
Like I was tellin' him, it was more of a reflex than, y'know, me actually wantin' to hurt him. Also, because no one fucks with the Majima family. [ beat ] Or the Majima family*.
[ * t/n: in his first usage of the word "family," majima uses the suffix "-gumi" to denote that he thinks of the household as being part of his yakuza clan. in the second, he changes to the suffix "-ke" to instead emphasize traditional blood/adoptive relationships.
unfortunately, this important distinction is often lost in translation. ]
[ is he... blushing...?! Mizuki evidently had a poor grasp of what he honestly thinks of them, something which is compounded by his following comment. Their eyes widen, and they blink at him once or twice - you can practically see the gears turning in their head.
[ They reach out and playfully shove his head. He was just funneling beer out of a bathtub faucet, so that clearly makes sense - it's just silly that he'd consider them that trustworthy, especially with all the shit with Beauty today, right?!
This is definitely not deflection because they don't know how to deal with that heartfelt familial sentiment. Nope. ]
Damn, "ojisan"? What's with the demotion all of a sudden...?
[ he rolls his eye as he smacks their hand away after they poke him, then starts shifting to try and get back up. it takes him a bit to awkwardly unfold his lanky limbs (you try being 6 feet and squashing yourself into a tub), but eventually, he is on his feet. a little hunched over, yes, but standing...
... but not going anywhere. ]
Ya said I gotta get up, ya didn't say I had to get out.
[ they can't help cracking back at him - but when he actually starts getting up, they do, too. That wasn't as hard as they thought it would be, actually! They just hope the shower isn't going to spray them with beer, too.
Of course, they don't quite get a chance to test that yet. The racy comment isn't quite as unexpected as the red-faced compliment; still, they raise an eyebrow at him, then breathe out a laugh of amusement. Without missing a beat, Mizuki slinks closer, lightly putting a palm against his chest as they lean in, voice low and mischievous. ]
I don't think you're ready to stay in, Majima-kun. [ they draw their hand up to playfully flick his chin with a finger before stepping back once more, gesturing towards the door. ] Go on.
[ he literally set himself up for it, so he's not sure why mizuki responding the way they do throws him off his rhythm. maybe because, usually, when people get this close to him, they have a knife resting at his chin rather than a finger.
as mizuki retreats, he laughs under his breath and finally climbs out of the tub. confirming his sobriety (or at least hiding his inebriation extremely well), there is no stagger to his step—no, his movements are surprisingly fluid, as he skirts around mizuki to make for the exit. but he teases as he passes: ]
Ya got a point. Why bother when there's a perfectly fine bedroom down the hall?
[ he grins as he takes his leave, one hand raised in a parting salute while the other closes the door. when mizuki starts the taps, they'll be relieved to find that it is water flowing from the faucet... but it's not normal water.
[ they cross their arms expectantly and step out of his way as he leaves, smiling sweetly like they did nothing at all. Only his parting words elicit a reaction from them - another faint look of disbelief - but they don't give him a response, for once, only lifting one hand in a half-wave to send him off.
That Majima's an interesting man, indeed. He's not their type; he's got to be out of his mind if he thinks they're going to take him up on that vulgar invitation. And yet, when they turn on the tap and find the scent of alcohol swiftly replaced with that of roses-- ]
What am I going to do with you?
[ they laugh to themself. In the end, Mizuki finds themself taking a bath rather than a shower, and dedicating a little more of their thoughts to Majima than they'd have imagined. ]
