[ his ears and tail droop again. goodness. furry week always puts his emotions on his sleeve, doesn't it? ]
It's been quite difficult, yes. Listening and helping trials while forced to stay silent has been ...... [ well. lets just say there's a reason he's been such a sad sack and drawing away from everyone these last two weeks or so ]
[ tonbo straightens up as he always does when it's full title time, though this time with ears perked and tail swishing behind him proudly. he's always so proud to boast of his aruji after all, he has to do this Properly. ]
I am one of the Three Great Spears of Japan, Tonobkiri. My master was Honda Tadakatsu; one of the Four Heavenly Kings of the Tokugawa. I saw much of the Sengoku era in battle.
[ his head tilts, taking the time to consider for the question ]
It's..... difficult. As a weapon, our feelings were our masters. There was no right or wrong; only their desires. Now, even if we wish not to, emotions are apart of our every move. We must decide for ourselves and even then we struggle to understand "why". But even so, this vessel understands 'protecting what is important' and thus it is what I rely on as I continue my existence.
[ ... obviously he can't speak too much for tsuru, but... he thinks about all the swords he's met—tonbokiri, ookurikara, yasusada, ishikirimaru. all of their hands have been stained independently from their previous wielders. he thinks about his own floral-embossed tantou, who has no say in the matter of what it cuts and slashes, who was used to gouge out its own master's very eye before becoming his.
[ some better than others but at the end the results tend to be similar. they’re all weapons meant to protect those they fight for after all. it’s more a matter if those methods coincide with each other ]
It seems as if there is a difference in citadel between us. Little things in the timeline that sets us apart from one another. Swords may have manifested in a certain way in one citadel but completely different or not at all in the other.
From what we've gathered, the Citadel I and the others from the boat come from the same one abet from different points in time but entirely different compared to the other three here.
[ a beat ]
They never learned to sing and dance for their modern battles either.
I'm just gonna go ahead and pretend that what ya just said to me makes perfect sense, which, given how I've already accepted that all of you are actual swords and spears and shit put into the bodies of good-lookin' dudes, really ain't that much of stretch of the imagination by any means.

That certainly is one way of putting it.
no subject
...have ya had the role since the start?
no subject
Since we arrived. We were not responsible for any of the murders those first two weeks, our roles more of protection for the campers.

[ he sounds. exhausted by this. he's learned he's a terrible dart player when the options are randomized ]
We could also protect one person from harm that week.

[ he can't help but chuckle low at that... because maybe it's for the best he was kept in the dark. but, all that aside... ]
When did the murderin' come into play? After Tsuru-han and Evan?

[ green did not mean good luck. ]
Mm and I suppose right after? I believe it was Wei Ying and Beau's group that has been responsible since the first week.

...hah. It's been tearin' all of ya up inside, hasn't it? Keepin' all those secrets.

I know it hasn't been easy on any of us.

Yer a weapon, right? One that was actually used in battle, not one that just sat around for decoration like Ishikiri-jisan.

How does that equate with you now? Bein' yer own person and all, I mean. Does havin' a conscience and thinkin' for yerself change things?
[ ... he gets that it's a loaded question for sure, but he's always wondered how the different swords approach this sort of matter. ]

To a point. We all seem to have our own methods

Guess I'm just tryin' to figure out how the fuck Ookurikara got his head lodged up his ass as far as he did.
no subject
Ookurikara, unfortunately, manifested like that.
[ which is unfortunate, given how wonderful the other Dategumi are but some swords are just forged on the wrong side he supposes ]

[ he just sighs as he rolls his eye. ]
Well. Least we're almost at the end... sorry that ya gotta deal with seein' him once ya get back home, though.

[ a sheepish look crosses his face, tonbo scratching at his cheek ]
Actually.... yes, but also not particularly...? The Ookurikara of my citadel is not the one here.

Haw?
[ what the fuck does that mean ]

It’s probably for the best. Even I get quite lost recalling time related nuisances.
